Oil on board, Europe - Mid century
A layered graphically geometric composition - an exploration into the relationships of circlular and rectilinear forms juxtaposed with vibrant versus earthly colour. Partly resonant of the work of Klee with strong textured brushwork. Presented in a beautiful period ebonised oak linear frame. Geometric abstraction had been investigated particularly by those associated with Eastern European Constructivism, the Bauhaus in Germany and the De Stijl movement in the Netherlands - the vocabulary came to the fore on multiple continents in the 1950s and 1960s.
