A SET OF FOUR PHILIPPE STARCK COSTES ARMCHAIRS
A SET OF FOUR PHILIPPE STARCK COSTES ARMCHAIRS
Italy - production Driade Aleph, c1987
Perhaps the ultimate chic post modern design, originally a commission by Starck in 1982 to furnish the famous Café Costes in Paris. Soon after in 1984 the production partnership with Driade was cemented and the rest is history. Tripod form with sharp compact lines, scooped supportive back, soft leather cushion - highly versatile placed opposite a sofa, as dining chairs, side chairs or at a desk. These chairs feature a rich grained mahogany veneer with contrasts beautifully with the graphic black. Well made and of good weight showing excellent vintage condition, Aleph label to the underside of all four.
